AI-sales must be evaluated as a system, not as a technology demonstration
AI-sales must be evaluated as a system, not as a technology demonstration
This concept elaborates on the futuristic note «AI-agent returns the salesperson inside the digital retail point».
AI is already capable of supporting a complex commercial dialogue. But the technical ability to hold a conversation is not equal to an economically viable sales system.
This is a direct application of the principle «Technological feasibility does not mean economic viability».
A futurist must consider at least three levels:
- the external traffic flow and its cost;
- the commercial website as a specific type of trading floor;
- the AI-salesperson and their incremental impact on profit.
It is especially important to measure not sales "after communicating with AI", but the difference relative to a comparable mode without the agent. A strong Expert may turn out to be redundant on a ready-demand website, and a cheap Order-Fulfiller — insufficient in a complex expert sale.
This is also an example of the principle «A futurist must think in systems, not technologies»: a locally impressive technology can worsen the result if it does not match the rest of the system.
For a futurist, the natural way to test such a hypothesis is an experiment. This is related to the general practice of refuting one's own intuition: comparing a website with and without an agent, measuring uplift, cost, and negative effects.

An applied projection for independent business is «A solopreneur needs not only a website, but also a salesperson» on solopreneur.prof.
